• Iowa City Schools Are In Bad Trouble

For the past nine months, I have been speaking regularly at meetings of the Iowa City Community School District’s Board of Directors. At first, I did it mainly in hopes that I would encourage other people of my political leanings to do the same. I know that a lot of parents are afraid to speak up about what’s being done to their children. They fear that their children will be punished, one way or another, if they do. They also fear social ostracism—knowing that the “woke” Left’s stock in trade is personal destruction of anyone who openly disagrees with the party line.

Since I’m financially secure, don’t depend on Iowa City for my income, and have no children in the system, I figured I was safe enough from serious attacks, so I decided to speak up for those who didn’t dare to. Eventually, I thought, if I set an example, I might embolden a few people with more to lose.

I also hoped that if I spoke at these meetings in opposition to the current woke culture that’s pervading our schools, at least word would get around, and decent parents and students would know that they’re not alone. I figured, also, that by asking uncomfortable questions I might expose some of the worst abuses that are taking place in our schools. Maybe not many townsfolk attend these meetings, I thought, but surely word would get around that I was making some noise, and the meetings are available on video.

At the bottom of my list of possibilities was that I might even reach several members of the School Board, that maybe if I laid out a sensible case, or asked the right questions, they might listen to reason and reconsider their positions. And maybe I’ll flap my arms and fly to the moon one day.

For the most part, my addresses to the Board have added up to a fool’s errand, which is why I am starting this blog: hoping that I’ll reach more people, and that the people I reach will be inspired to involve themselves in efforts to wrest control of the school system from the nefarious people who have their claws in it today.

We can no longer pretend that the Iowa City Community School District’s Board of Directors and its various minions (particularly those devoted to “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”) are well-meaning people who are simply in error. They are people who have fallen into evil, and for the sake of society, we must thwart them—now. The children under their charge are being deliberately taught racism, totalitarianism, and nihilism (in both senses: “the desire to annihilate” and “belief in nothing”). In all, our children are being taught falsehood—and the District’s Directors and many of the people they oversee are all-in on the effort.

“Grooming” describes exactly what they are doing to the children of the district. They’re not grooming children for sexual purposes, but they are preparing children’s minds in a particular way, to accept things as true that are not, and to completely disregard what is. I can’t think of a more accurate word than “grooming.”

Truth is the greatest of all macrovalues, because all evil comes from lies. Truth is not a value to the Left. Today our children are taught that America is inherently and systemically racist; that it was founded to preserve slavery; that white people are privileged and black people continue to be oppressed; that a boy is a girl if he says he is (and vice versa); that children should be encouraged to develop gender dysphoria and perhaps literally medicated in that direction without their parents’ knowledge or consent. Above all, our children are taught that Western civilization must be demolished and rebuilt from its foundations—by them.

The farther left you go, the more pathology, the more antisocial behavior, the more awfulness you’ll involve yourself in—and the more of it you’ll pass on to children. Decent conservative people believe that your proper objective is not to control and transform society. Your proper objective is to better yourself. You are your greatest challenge. That’s not what children are learning in our government-run schools, though. Over the next several weeks, on this blog, I’m going to be exposing the behavior of our school administrators, and asking some tough questions (which I don’t expect them to answer).

I need your help. Please contact me at jdobrian@aol.com to communicate your own concerns about this school district, and to suggest topics for me to address. Also, please share my blog posts with the people in your circle, especially those who have children or grandchildren in the system. We must not lose any time. Our society is in grave danger at the hands of the people who currently control our schools.
